China has notably extended its global travel connectivity, fostering robust international exchanges and interactions during?the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

Wang Zhizhong, head of the National Immigration Administration (NIA), announced at a press conference on Wednesday that China has introduced unilateral visa-free entry and mutual visa exemption agreements with 75 countries as part of its efforts to streamline visa rules and promote international exchange. The number of countries eligible for visa-free transit to China has increased to 55, with 60 entry ports now spanning across 24 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities.

Moreover, Wang noted that the allowed stay period for visa-free transit has been extended to 240 hours, adding that all these measures have greatly facilitated travel for foreigners visiting China for tourism, business and other purposes.

"Many foreign visitors have gained a true and full understanding of China through their firsthand experiences," Wang said.

Official data shows that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China's border inspection agencies have handled a total of 1.556 billion entries and exits by travelers, along with more than 98 million cross-border transport vehicles, including ships, trains and automobiles.
